2018 Municipal Election Calendar 
April 11 and August 22, 2018 Voting System Info Session at 6pm (Council Chambers).
October 9, 2018 You should receive your Voter Information Letter in the mail on or around this date.
October 12-22, 2018 Voting Period opens October 12 at 10am and closes at 8pm on October 22.
October 22, 2018 Close of voting at 8pm.
October 22, 2018 Posting of results no later than 8:30pm at the Municipal Office and
December 3, 2018 Inaugural meeting of new Council at 7pm (Council Chambers)

Role of the Municipal Clerk 
The Municipal Clerk, as the Returning Officer, is responsible for organizing the election for:
  • Mayor (1)
  • Deputy Mayor (1)
  • Councillor(s) (5)
  • School Board Trustees (4)

Voting System Information
  • The voting system was designed to meet the needs of electors to ensure independence, dignity, integration and equal opportunity.
  • You can vote from the privacy of home without having to travel.
  • Telephone: volume can be adjusted; a TTY (teletypewriter) can be used; clear language and prompts will assist you.
  • Internet: menu options are clear and easy to follow; font size can be enlarged; a screen reader can be used.
  • The system meets accessibility standards imposed by the Province.
  • Accessible Help Centres will be open for assistance during the voting period.
  • Accessible customer service training will be given to election staff and offered to candidates.
  • You can vote by telephone or internet, using a device of your choice.
  • Voting opens on Friday, October 12 at 10:00 a.m.
  • You can vote anytime, 24 hours per day, during the voting period, until Monday, October 22 at 8:00 p.m.
  • You can vote in the privacy of your home or anywhere in the world.
  • Help Centres will be provided during the voting period should you need assistance.
  • Ensure that you are on the voters list by visiting or by calling 1-866-296-6722.
  • In early October, each elector will receive a personal voter notification letter containing information to access the voting system by telephone or internet.
  • You will be required to confirm you are entitled to vote when accessing the system.
  • Follow the prompts and confirm your selections.
  • Exit the system by hanging up or closing your browser.
  • Attend one of two information sessions to find out more about the system or visit a Help Centre during the voting period.
  • Results will be posted online at and projected onscreen at the Municipal Office.
  • Printing is reduced, saving paper and trees.
  • Green house gas emissions are limited by offering voting anywhere in the world without traveling to a poll.
  • Cost savings are achieved by eliminating the requirement for temporary staff assigned to work the election.
  • Time is saved with convenient and easy access to the voting system.
  • Results are available earlier on Election Day.
  • A secured channel is provided using SSL protocol with the complete communication digitally signed and encrypted.
  • Dominion Voting provides a layered and comprehensive set of security controls, including secure data centres, access control, data confidentiality an data integrity.
  • The voting system includes audit logs for recount.
  • All electronic records, including data files are digitally signed but maintain voter privacy.
  • The system has anti-virus protection and is protected against repeat voting.
  • The system was successfully audited.
  • The principles and the integrity of the election process are enforceable by law.  It is an offence to:
    • Vote without being entitled to do so
    • Vote more than once
    • Take, open or otherwise deal with a ballot without authorization
    • Furnish false or misleading information to a person
    • Induce or procure a person to vote.
