  • Canine Control By-law - On March 15, 2017, the Council of the Township of Southgate passed a draft Canine Control By-law and is looking for public comments. The 60 day comment period will begin on March 22, 2017. The deadline for submitting comments is May 23, 2017. Comments can be submitting on our online webform, emailed directly to dmilliner@southgate.ca, or mailed to the Township of Southgate to the attention of CAO Dave Milliner.
 
  • Bill 39, the Aggregate Resources and Mining Modernization Act is advancing in the Legislature. The ministry is proposing to increase, equalize and index annual aggregate fees and royalties, by amending Regulation 244/97 under the Aggregate Resources Act.A notice regarding the proposed changes has been posted on the Regulatory Registry for consultation for a period of 45 days ending on May 1st, 2017 (visit www.ontariocanada.com/registry and look under “Current regulatory proposals”).Comments for this proposal can be sent by email to ARAreview@ontario.ca or by mail or fax to Hal Leadlay, Resource Development Section, MNRF, 300 Water Street, 2nd Floor South, Peterborough, ON, K9J 3C7; fax 705-755-1971.
 
  • The Lake Erie Region Source Protection Committee is looking for an interested, committed individual with relevant experience to fi­ll a Public Interest seat on the Lake Erie Region Source Protection Committee. The term of office will begin this spring and last about four years. Additional details, including the application form, can be found on the Lake Erie Source Protection Region website
    The deadline to submit an application is March 17, 2017. 
 
  • SVCA Environmental Planning and Regulations Policies Manual Engagement - The manual has been made available at the following link Environmental Planning and Regulations Policies Draft Manual and will also be available for viewing by the public on SVCA’s website.The SVCA requests comments and feedback on this manual no later than March 20, 2017 for consideration during the policy approval process of the SVCA.

    • Halfway down the page under the heading "Geographic Location Filters" select Location Name on the right hand side and input "Southgate" into the box beside location name.

    • You will be provided with a list of all proposals and decisions related to our municipality.
    • You can comment on any proposals that are open for public comment and add ones you are interested in to a watch list. It's just that easy!
