Emergency Preparedness Week | May 3–9, 2026

This week is Emergency Preparedness Week, an opportunity to remind residents of the simple steps they can take to help protect themselves, their families, and their households during an emergency.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing helpful tips and resources to support emergency preparedness in the Township of Southgate.

Preparedness Tip #1: Build a 72-Hour Emergency Kit

Emergencies can happen unexpectedly. Having an emergency kit with basic supplies can help your household stay self-sufficient for at least 72 hours.

Your kit may include items such as water, non-perishable food, medications, flashlights, batteries, important documents, a first aid kit, pet supplies, and other essentials specific to your household’s needs.
