Nomination Period for the 2026 Municipal Election Opens May 1, 2026

Nominations for Mayor and Council candidates open Friday, May 1, 2026.

Positions include:
Mayor: One (1) to be elected
Deputy Mayor: One (1) to be elected
Councillors: Five (5) to be elected.

Nomination forms must be filed in person during normal office hours between May 1, 2026 and Thursday, August 20, 2026 and between 9:00am and 2:00pm on Friday, August 21, 2026. To book an appointment to submit your nomination with the Clerk, email election@southgate.ca or call 519-923-2110. School Board Trustees can be submitted to the respective municipality.

Candidates cannot being their election campaign until their nomination papers are filed with the Clerk's office.
