Open Burn Rating: MODERATE

The Dundalk Fire Department has set the current Open Burn Rating to MODERATE.

Conditions are suitable for open air burning with caution.

Residents are reminded to burn responsibly and take the necessary precautions to help prevent grass, brush, and wildland fires.

Before starting an open air fire:

• Check the current fire rating.
• Follow the Township's Open Air Burning By-law.
• Burn only dry, natural materials.
• Monitor wind conditions and avoid burning if winds increase.
• Keep water, a hose, or a fire extinguisher readily available.
• Never leave a fire unattended, and ensure it is completely extinguished before leaving the area.

Weather conditions can change quickly. If conditions become unsafe, extinguish your fire immediately.

When in doubt, don't burn. Your safety and the safety of our community come first.
