Township of Southgate Announces Certified Candidates and Declarations to Office for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections
The Township of Southgate advises residents that the nomination period for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections has closed and the Clerk has certified the following candidates in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.

Councillor
- Joan John
- Martin Shipston
- Michael Sherson
- Jim Ferguson
- Kristy Taylor
- David Kopp
- Samantha Erin Parent
Acclaimed Candidates
The Township notes that the following candidates have been acclaimed to office, having been the sole certified nominee for their respective positions:
- Barbara Dobreen, Deputy Mayor
Residents will vote to fill the offices of Mayor (1) and Councillors (5).

The candidate list was certified by the Clerk on August 24, 2026, following the close of nominations at 2:00 p.m on August 21, 2026, and review of all nomination filings in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.
