HomeLocal GovernmentCommunity Safety and Well Being Plan

The Community Safety and Well-Being Plan (CSWBP) is a collaborative, cross-sector plan that will lead to numerous benefits for individuals, the broader community, and participating partner agencies and organizations. The majority of Municipalities of Bruce and Grey have come together with community partners to undertake Community Safety and Well-Being Planning. This process involves identifying risks across Bruce and Grey related to safety and well-being and then the creation of a plan to address priority risks and taking a crime prevention approach.

This program will enhance communication and collaboration among sector, agencies and organizations. This will allow for new opportunities to share multi-sectoral data and evidence to better understand the community through identifying gaps, priorities and successes. The plan is to help build healthier, more productive individuals who positively contribute to the community through an increased understanding of priority risks, vulnerable groups and neighbourhoods and to provide improved opportunities for healthy child development. The CSWBP will focus on providing an enhanced feeling of safety and being cared for, increase the awareness of access to services for community members and vulnerable groups, and to create an environment that will encourage newcomers to the community.

The Community Safety and Well-Being Planning will require less dependence on reactionary, incident-driven responses and will re-focus efforts and investments towards the long-term benefits of social development, prevention and addressing elevated risk.

The CSWBP team is compiled of over 50 community partners who either have a mandate for, or an interest in, community safety and well-being. To view a full list of the Municipal, Police and Community partners click here.

The Township of Southgate adopted the Community Safety and Well Being Plan in December of 2020. To view the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan in detail, click here.
