Grey County Citizen Self-Reporting

Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P) remind residents that they can file low priority incidents online via a Citizen Self-Reporting system. Citizen Self Reporting was launched by the O.P.P on July 7, 2014 to improve efficiencies and expand service delivery to the public. Using the Citizen Self Reporting System, low priority incidents can be reported online, at your convenience, without attending a detachment or waiting to see an officer.

Should you require immediate assistance, call 911.

What to Report Using the Self-Report System
  • Lost/missing property under $5000
  • Stolen license plates or validation stickers
  • Theft from a vehicle under $5000
  • Mischief to a vehicle under $5000
  • Mischief (damage to property other than a vehicle) under $5000
  • Theft under $5000
  • Driving Complaints
Do NOT Use the Self-Reporting System if
  • The occurrence is an emergency
  • The occurrence happened outside of O.P.P jurisdiction
  • There are any identifiable suspects
  • Anyone was injured
  • The occurrence involves a weapon
  • The occurrence involves any damage to a motor vehicle due to an actual or apparent collision, including failing to remain collisions
  • The occurrence involves a break and enter to a place (e.g unlawful entry and theft from a house, building or structure)
  • If the total value of the property damage exceeds $5000
  • The occurrence involves drugs or gambling (including lottery tickets)
  • The occurrence involves a passport
  • The occurrence involves a lost or missing licence plate, validation sticker or disabled parking permit (no theft involved)
Frequently Asked Questions
  1. How do I use the system?
    • To access the system, go to www.opp.ca/reporting
  2. What if I want to see an officer?
    • You may still contact the O.P.P by phone to make your report and have an officer attend. The 24 hour O.P.P toll-free number is 1-888-310-1122
  3. How secure is my information that I submit online?
    • All information submitted via the Citizen Self Reporting System is confidential and secure from all forms of electronic intrusion

Officers remain available 24 hours a day through the O.P.P Communications Centre if your matter requires an officer to respond. Online reporting as been designed to allow an easier and more convenient way to report low priority incidents.
